Interns in the Finance Department have a fixed one-year contract that runs from July 2024 to June 2025, with the possibility of an extension based on performance and funding availability.

Location: Mwanza Tanzania
Reports to: Manager of Finance and Administration

Delivering assistance as asked and instructed by the department head to the Finance Team, other World Renew Departments, and partners.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • helping the finance manager with financial and accounting tasks, such as managing accounts receivable and payable.
  • helping with the monthly system clearing, personnel advancements, and bank statement reconciliation for World Renew and Partners.
  • supporting the staff retirement verification process and partner monthly financial report submissions.
  • When needed, providing support in maintaining World Renew’s financial records in the accounting system, maintaining the main and subsidiary ledgers, and preparing and uploading journal entries for operational expenses while working with other finance team members.
  • As assigned, carry out additional accounting tasks and special projects.
  • helping to complete the reviews and verification of invoices for coding and payment as well as bills for payment.

Qualifications

  • a devout, experienced Christian who is able to share his or her beliefs with coworkers in a professional setting.
  • A minimum of one year’s work experience in a role with comparable duties, ideally in a financial or banking institution or a faith-based NGO.
  • competent with Web Conferencing Applications and MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio). It is recommended to have experience with SAGE accounting systems or comparable financial reporting software.
  • high moral standards validated by references and prior employment in stewardship, responsibility, and honesty.
  • High degree of interpersonal, cross-cultural, and communication skills, as well as awareness of regional and international sociopolitical situations, were displayed.
  • Working across cultural boundaries, particularly with Americans, is a plus.
  • It is also very advantageous to have some expertise managing initiatives supported by corporate and individual donors.

The individual has a degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration, and is proficient in English and Kiswahili. They are required to travel 10-15% of the time to rural Tanzanian project areas, often with limited access to services.
