The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) is inviting qualified and capable Tanzanian citizens to apply for various positions in the Upgrading of Kibondo – Mabamba Road Project to Bitumen Standard. TANROADS is responsible for the upkeep and development of the trunk and regional road network in mainland Tanzania and for axle load control operations using weighbridge scales.
To support this project, TANROADS seeks skilled individuals for the following roles under a fixed-term contract:
1. SENIOR ENGINEER (HIGHWAY ENGINEER) – 2 POSITIONS
Qualifications:
- Tanzanian citizen with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of seven years of relevant work experience.
- Professional Engineer registration with ERB.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to contract conditions and specifications.
- Review existing designs, identify deficiencies, and advise the Resident Engineer during construction.
- Locate all beacons and benchmarks for the contractor to set out and construct the works.
- Inspect completed works for compliance with technical specifications.
- Prepare control charts and project schedules, track past performance, and forecast completion times.
- Measure completed work quantities.
- Submit detailed progress reports with updated civil work costs to the Resident Engineer.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned by the Project Manager.
2. ASSISTANT LAND SURVEYOR – 1 POSITION
Qualifications:
- Tanzanian citizen with a Diploma in Land Surveying or equivalent from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of three years of relevant work experience.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing sketches, maps, and reports of surveyed works.
- Review survey data for accuracy, including measurements and calculations.
- Record survey results, including land shapes, contours, locations, elevations, and dimensions.
- Assist in determining specifications for aerial photography equipment.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
3. SENIOR ENGINEER (MATERIALS) – 1 POSITION
Qualifications:
- Tanzanian citizen with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of seven years of relevant work experience.
- Professional Engineer registration with ERB.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise laboratory and experimental work, ensuring strict adherence to specifications.
- Implement QA/QC procedures and checklists effectively.
- Inspect, test, and approve all materials and completed works for compliance with technical specifications.
- Ensure regular and approved calibrations of all testing equipment in the laboratories.
- Organize, store, and label all approved material samples properly.
- Prepare daily reports on work progress, approved samples, and supplied materials, maintaining records of all material activities.
- Advise the Resident Engineer on material applications and quality control.
- Review contractor test results and reports on pavement and materials, providing guidance on subsequent actions.

Terms of Service:
- Employment term: Specified one-year contract.
- Salary: According to TANROADS Salary scale, with site allowances as per TANROADS Incentive Policy.
