The position of L1 Enterprise Operations Support Engineer is open at Airtel Tanzania PLC.The position is accountable to the Network Department’s Enterprise Operations Manager. they will be in charge of proactively carrying out correct network fault detection, advanced first line fault remedial action, intermediate parameter configuration to clear quality of service issues, and timely escalation to correct internal and external groups in order to ensure the highest possible service availability on a 24/7 schedule.

The following are only a few of the responsibilities of the role holder:

1.Handling and managing alerts to resolve issues with service or quality that impact alarms

2.L1 Handling faults and fixing them to guarantee adherence to the MTTR SLA:

  • Alarm monitoring for the purpose of fault detection
  • Management of the TT life cycle from inception to termination
  • Tests in loops
  • weather map tracking to determine connection status
  • Check the port status
  • Link status inquiries

3.Accurate and on time escalation of faults/degraded service to 2nd Line support and field operations as appropriate.

4.Finishing the shift handoff and relaying any observations of deteriorated network performance to the NOC engineer who will be taking over the following shift

5.Overseeing and supporting field operations engineers with new circuit delivery, preventative and curative maintenance, such as sending someone to the site to fix a problem or test an alert.

6.Use the process of change and incident management to regulate access to BTS locations.

7.Precise TT reporting that includes all necessary information, including event start and finish times, RFOs, and resolutions, in accordance with the template

8.Notifying stakeholders (third parties, customer service, corporate CRM) about scheduled and unforeseen network outages along with the estimated restoration time (ETR) and event closure via emails and SMS messages

9.Use the process of change and incident management to regulate access to BTS sites.

Academic and Qualifications and Experience:

  • an IT bachelor’s degree, diploma, or degree in electrical, electronics, or telecommunications engineering, or an equivalent degree with a focus on data communications or telecommunications.
  • A fundamental grasp of IPRAN network segments, nodes, fiber, and microwave is necessary for fault detection and first line remediation.
  • Professional certifications like the CCNA would be beneficial.
  • a thorough understanding of wireless and fiber telecommunications acquired through at least three years of work in a highly interactive setting; proficiency in reporting intermediate first line diagnoses and providing remedial measures; and a minimum of three years of experience in an IT or telecommunications setting.
  • possesses the ability to use specific information in a practical way to solve problems
  • thorough knowledge of the setup and operation of NMSs and OAMs in the telecom industry comprehensive knowledge of telecom standards.
