Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) is a government body established pursuant to the Civil Aviation Authority Act 2003 Cap 80 (R.E 2006). The Authority provides regulatory oversight of the aviation industry in Tanzania, ensuring effective implementation of Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) as per Civil Aviation Regulations. Additionally, TCAA offers air navigation services and aviation training through its training arm, the Civil Aviation Training Centre (CATC).

RECRUITMENT OF AIR TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT OFFICERS AND AERONAUTICAL INFORMATION MANAGEMENT OFFICERS

The Authority seeks to recruit twenty-eight (28) qualified Tanzanian Citizens in the following areas:

  • Air Traffic Management Officers: 14 positions
  • Aeronautical Information Management Officers: 14 positions

Applicants must attend pre-employment training at CATC and pass all relevant examinations. Training includes Classroom theories, Simulations, Field attachment, and On-the-Job training.

AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL AERODROME COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications Required for Applicants:

  • B.Sc. Degree in Air Traffic Management, Physics, Mathematics, Geographical Information System, Geomatics, Statistics, or related fields
  • GPA 3.0 and above
  • Secondary Education level passes in English and Geography (grade C or above)
  • Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education passes in Physics and Mathematics
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Computer literacy
  • Age between 21 and 30 years
  • Tanzanian Citizenship (attach copies of National ID and Birth certificate)

Duties and Responsibilities of Air Traffic Management Officers:

  • Planning, executing, and monitoring aircraft movement to prevent collisions
  • Providing information for safe, orderly, and economic conduct of flights
  • Alerting and assisting aircraft in emergency situations
  • Coordinating with other air traffic control units
  • Transmitting meteorological conditions and maintaining records
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

AERONAUTICAL INFORMATION MANAGEMENT COURSE REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications Required for Applicants:

  • B.Sc. Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Geo-informatics, Geographical Information System, Geomatics, or related fields
  • GPA 3.0 and above
  • Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education passes in Physics and Mathematics
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Computer literacy
  • Age between 21 and 30 years
  • Tanzanian Citizenship (attach copies of National ID and Birth certificate)

Duties and Responsibilities of Aeronautical Information Officer:

  • Accepting, processing, and disseminating Flight Plans
  • Providing briefings to aircrew on flight information
  • Coordinating with Air Traffic Management units
  • Preparing Pre-flight Information Bulletins (PIB)
  • Performing other related duties as assigned

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to concentrate, respond quickly in emergencies, and work in a team
  • Confidence with technology, emotional stability, and error awareness
  • High level of numeracy or technical knowledge, conscientiousness, and rule adherence

GENERAL INFORMATION

Interview, Living Expenses, and Training Costs:

  • Applicants cover their interview expenses
  • Successful candidates pay tuition fees of TZS. 4,500,000/= to TCAA
  • Candidates cover all living and transport expenses during training

IMPORTANT ASPECTS TO NOTE:

  • Verification of foreign certificates by NECTA, TCU, and NACTE
  • Legal action against forged certificates
  • Application in English, with encouragement for female and Zanzibari candidates
  • Submission within 2 weeks of advertisement date

VENUE AND DURATION OF TRAINING

Training at Civil Aviation Training Centre (CATC), Julius Nyerere International Airport Terminal I. One-year duration in staggered phases with regular tests and examinations.

EMPLOYMENT

Successful candidates employed as Air Traffic Management Officers and Aeronautical Information Management Officers upon completion.
