Director of Dar es Salaam City Council hereby invites qualified Tanzanians interested in working at the Council to apply for the following positions, following approval with Ref. No. FA. 97/288/01/09 dated 25th June 2024 from the Secretary-General, Office of the President – Public Service Management and Good Governance.

OFFICE SECRETARY GRADE II – 5 POSITIONS

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Typing routine and confidential letters, reports, and documents
  • Welcoming visitors, inquiring about their issues, and directing them appropriately
  • Maintaining records of events, appointments, visitors, meeting dates, supervisor’s travels, and other work schedules
  • Searching for and compiling relevant documents for job execution
  • Receiving files and distributing them to relevant officers in the department/section
  • Collecting, maintaining, and retrieving files and documents from respective locations
  • Arranging excerpts and preparing for various meetings
  • Compiling a list of office equipment needs
  • Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduates of Form IV or Form VI
  • Diploma in Office Management or NTA Level 6 Certificate in Office Management
  • Typing proficiency of 100 words per minute in Swahili and English
  • Proficiency in office computer programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, Email, and Publisher) from any government-recognized institution

SALARY SCALE:TGS C

RECORDS ASSISTANT GRADE II – 15 POSITIONS

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Listing incoming and outgoing correspondence in registers
  • Distributing files to officers (Action Officers)
  • Receiving returned files from officers
  • Searching for necessary records/documents/files for officers
  • Returning files to racks/filing cabinets or designated storage areas
  • Tracking file circulation within the institution
  • Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduates of Form IV or Form VI
  • NTA Level 6 Certificate in Records Management from government-recognized institutions
  • Computer skills

SALARY SCALE: TGS C

DRIVER GRADE II – 5 POSITIONS

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Inspecting vehicle before and after trips to ensure safety
  • Transporting staff to various locations on official trips
  • Performing minor vehicle maintenance
  • Collecting and distributing various documents
  • Recording all trip information in the trip log
  • Cleaning the vehicle
  • Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduates with Form IV Certificate
  • Class C or E Driver’s License
  • Minimum one year of accident-free driving experience
  • Completed Basic Driving Course from VETA, NIT, or any government-recognized institution

SALARY SCALE: TGS B

LOCAL EXECUTIVE GRADE III – 20 POSITIONS

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Ward Committee Secretary
  • Chief Executive of the Ward
  • Coordinator for policy and law implementation by the Council in the Ward
  • Advisor to the Ward Committee on Development Plans in the Ward
  • Supervisor for local and other applicable laws in the Ward
  • Advisor to the Ward Committee on Security and Safety issues
  • Supervisor for strategies related to hunger and poverty alleviation in the Ward
  • Supervising Council revenue collection and maintaining taxpayer records
  • Compiling and maintaining a register of all Ward residents
  • Accountable to the Ward Executive
  • Performing other duties assigned by the supervisor

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduates of Form IV or Form VI
  • Diploma (NTA Level 5) in Administration, Law, Social Education, Financial Management, Community Development, or Social Sciences from government-recognized institutions

SALARY SCALE: TGS B

  • Attach certified copies of academic certificates by a Lawyer/Legal Practitioner, including Form IV and Form VI certificates, and certificates of various training qualifications as per job requirements
  • Testimonials, Provisional Results, Form IV and Form VI Result Slips NOT accepted
  • National Identification Card or number required
  • Certificates from studies outside Tanzania must be verified and approved by relevant authorities (TCU, NECTA, and NACTE)
  • No criminal convictions
  • Current government employees in other positions not allowed to apply, follow Circular No. CAC.45/257/01/D/140 dated 30th November 2010
  • Providing false information leads to legal consequences
  • Deadline for applications: 27th July 2024
