The Ocean Road Cancer Institute (ORCI) is one of Tanzania’s leading medical institutions dedicated to the prevention, treatment, and control of cancer. plays a critical role in the nation’s healthcare system, offering specialized oncology services and contributing to research and public awareness in the fight against cancer.
In line with its mandate to expand and improve its services, ORCI has been granted approval for new hires for the financial year 2023/2024. This permit, authorized by the Permanent Secretary of the President’s Office Public Service Management (Ref. No. FA.97/288/01/09, dated 25th June 2024), allows the institute to fill key positions necessary for its operations. Among the positions available is that of a Biomedical Engineer.
1. Biomedical Engineer (1 Post)
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Biomedical Engineer at ORCI will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the institute’s advanced medical equipment and facilities operate efficiently. The responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing preventive maintenance plans for the institute’s facilities.
- Ensuring the seamless operation of ORCI’s communication systems.
- Installing medical machines and equipment.
- Supervising technicians responsible for the maintenance of equipment, grounds, and buildings.
- Performing specified technical tasks that require a high degree of expertise.
- Providing professional advice and guidance to hospital equipment users.
- Assisting in the formulation of policies related to the maintenance of hospital equipment.
- Executing any other duties related to their work as assigned by superiors.
Qualifications and Experience:
To qualify for this position, applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields from a recognized institution. Additionally, candidates must be registered with the Engineers’ Registration Board as a Graduate Engineer.
