Kilimanjaro Native Cooperative Union (KNCU) Vacancies 2024

The Kilimanjaro Native Cooperative Union (1984) Ltd (KNCU), a historic cooperative union formed in 1933 by native farmers from the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, has announced job vacancies for August 2024. KNCU, known for its dedication to enhancing the economic interests of its members, primarily through coffee production and exportation, is seeking professionals with passion, dedication, and a commitment to excellence to fill two critical positions: Chief Internal Auditor and Chief Accountant.

Registered under the Cooperative Societies Act No. 6 of 2013, KNCU serves the districts of Rombo, Moshi Rural, Hai, and Siha within the Kilimanjaro region. The union has played a pivotal role in the economic development of these areas, particularly in the coffee industry, by promoting sustainable practices and ensuring that the benefits of the cooperative model are passed on to its members. Available Positions

1. Chief Internal Auditor

Nature and Scope The Chief Internal Auditor will report to the Union Board and administratively to the General Manager. This role is crucial for adding value and improving KNCU’s operations by adopting a systematic and disciplined approach to risk management, control management, and governance processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and improve internal control systems.
  • Monitor the implementation of these systems.
  • Assess the adequacy of the risk management framework.
  • Conduct full audit cycles, including risk and control management.
  • Ensure compliance with KNCU’s policies and regulations.
  • Develop audit programs and conduct performance audits.
  • Maintain a dashboard of identified risks for monthly and quarterly reporting.
  • Provide independent advice to the Board.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Auditing, Accountancy, Finance, Commerce, or Business Administration.
  • Professional certification such as CPA (T), ACCA, ACA, or CIA.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field is advantageous.
  • At least three years of relevant experience in a reputable organization.

2. Chief Accountant

Nature and Scope The Chief Accountant will report to the General Manager and will be responsible for the overall management of the finance and accounts department, ensuring conformity with international accounting standards and optimizing resource mobilization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all financial activities within the union.
  • Advise the General Manager on financial matters.
  • Prepare financial statements, reports, and annual budgets.
  • Manage operational and administrative costs.
  • Coordinate stock-taking and maintain the General Ledger and Fixed Assets register.
  • Ensure compliance with cooperative laws and regulations.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, Commerce, or Business Administration.
  • Professional certification such as CPA (T), ACCA, ACA, or CIA.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field is advantageous.
  • At least three years of experience in a similar role.
