The United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (IRMCT) at its Arusha Branch is currently seeking candidates for the role of Library Assistant within the Mechanism Archives and Records Section (MARS). Key Responsibilities
The Library Assistant at IRMCT will handle multiple library functions, including:
- Circulation and Maintenance: This includes tasks like retrieving, checking out, returning, and recalling library materials.
- Cataloging and Procurement: In addition to circulation, managing resources involves registering and cataloging new materials, managing subscriptions, and ensuring timely updates in the library system.
- Client Services: Furthermore, staff assist IRMCT personnel with research, offer document delivery services, provide access to electronic resources, and handle public inquiries.
- Training and Visitor Management: Beyond direct client support, the library also focuses on training interns, compiling library statistics, organizing tours, and managing visitor information.
- Support for Events and PR: Lastly, in the realm of public outreach, the library team assists in diplomatic and press events, coordinates public relations efforts, and drafts social media content related to MARS activities.

Qualifications and Experience
Candidates must have at least a high school diploma and three years of experience in library work or a related field (reduced to one year with a university degree). Additional preferred qualifications include experience in research support, familiarity with UN databases, and protocol coordination.
