The Executive Director of Arusha District Council has received approval to implement staffing and budget for new jobs for the 2023/2024 fiscal year, reference number FA.97/288/01/09 dated June 25, 2024, from the Secretary General of the President’s Office, Public Service Management, and Good Governance. Therefore, the Executive Director of Arusha District Council invites all Tanzanian citizens with the required qualifications to apply for the positions listed below:

1. Driver Grade II – (7 Positions)

Responsibilities:

  1. Inspecting the vehicle before and after travel to identify its safety condition.
  2. Transporting employees to various locations for official duties.
  3. Performing minor vehicle maintenance.
  4. Collecting and distributing various documents.
  5. Recording and maintaining travel logs.
  6. Cleaning the vehicle.

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed Secondary Education (Form IV) or Form VI.
  • Must possess a Class C or E driving license and have at least one year of driving experience without causing accidents.
  • Must have attended basic driving training provided by VETA, NIT, or any other government-recognized institution.

Salary: As per the government salary scale TGS B 1.

2. Office Assistant Grade II (3 Positions)

Responsibilities:

  1. Typing letters, reports, and both ordinary and confidential documents.
  2. Receiving visitors and addressing their concerns.
  3. Maintaining records of events, appointments, visitors, meetings, and the supervisor’s travel schedules.
  4. Searching for files and documents required for task execution.
  5. Receiving and distributing files to relevant officers.
  6. Collecting, storing, and returning files and documents to their appropriate places.
  7. Organizing notes and preparing for various meetings.
  8. Preparing a list of office equipment needs.

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed Secondary Education (Form IV) or Form VI.
  • Must hold a Diploma in Secretarial Studies or an NTA level 6 Certificate in Secretarial Studies.
  • Must have passed shorthand courses in both Kiswahili and English at 100 words per minute.
  • Must have proficiency in office computer programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, E-mail, and Publisher from a government-recognized institution.

Salary: As per the government salary scale TGS C 1.

3. Village Executive Officer Grade III (7 Positions)

Responsibilities:

  1. Principal government officer and executive head of the village.
  2. Supervising the safety and security of citizens and their property.
  3. Coordinating and overseeing village development plans.
  4. Secretary of all village council meetings and committees.
  5. Interpreting and enforcing policies, laws, and regulations.
  6. Preparing work implementation reports and motivating citizens to create and execute strategies to eradicate hunger, poverty, and increase production.
  7. Leading village technical departments.
  8. Managing and storing all village records and documents.
  9. Chairing technical meetings in the village.
  10. Receiving, hearing, and resolving citizens’ complaints and disputes.
  11. Supervising the formulation of village by-laws.
  12. Reporting to the Ward Executive Officer.
  13. Performing other tasks as assigned by the employer.

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed Secondary Education (Form IV) or Form VI.
  • Must hold a certificate or diploma in one of the following fields: Administration, Law, Community Education, Financial Management, Community Development, or Social Sciences from a government-recognized institution.

Salary: As per the government salary scale TGS B.

4. Plant Operator – (1 Position)

Responsibilities:

  • Operating machinery under the supervision of an experienced Plant Operator.

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed Secondary Education (Form IV).
  • Must possess a Class G license for operating machinery and have the skill to maintain various machinery tools.
  • Must have at least 300 hours or three months of operating experience without causing accidents.

Salary: As per the government salary scale TGOS A.

5. Records Assistant Grade II (2 Positions)

Responsibilities:

  1. Searching for required records/documents/files for Action Officers.
  2. Controlling the reception and registration of records/documents.
  3. Registering incoming correspondence.
  4. Classifying and indexing documents for filing.
  5. Registering outgoing correspondence.
  6. Distributing files to Action Officers.
  7. Monitoring file circulation within the institution.
  8. Returning files to their storage racks/cabinets.
  9. Receiving files returned to the registry by Action Officers.

Qualifications:

  • Must have completed Secondary Education (Form IV) or Form VI.
  • Must hold a Diploma (NTA level 6) in Records Management from a government-recognized institution.
  • Must have computer skills.

Salary: As per the government salary scale TGS C 1.

General Conditions

  1. All applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged 18 to 45 years, except for those already employed in the government.

  3. All applicants must attach a detailed Curriculum Vitae with a reliable address, phone numbers, and email address, along with three reputable referees.
  4. Government employees seeking positions in different cadres must route their applications through their current employers who will verify their credentials.
  5. Applicants must attach certified copies of their educational and professional certificates, including Form IV and Form VI certificates and professional certificates from relevant boards.
  6. Testimonials, provisional results, statement of results, Form IV and Form VI result slips will not be accepted.
  7. Applicants educated outside Tanzania must ensure their certificates are verified and approved by the relevant authorities (TCU, NECTA, and NACTE).
  8. Retired public servants are not eligible to apply unless they have approval from the Chief Secretary.
  9. Applicants currently employed in entry positions in the public service should not apply and should adhere to Circular No. CAC.45/257/01/D/140 of November 30, 2010.
  10. Submission of false information and credentials will result in legal action.
  11. The application deadline is July 30, 2024.
