About the Programme
The Mastercard Foundation, in collaboration with BRAC International (BI), has launched a project aiming to positively impact 1.2 million adolescent girls and young women, and 9.5 million people across seven countries in East and West Africa, including Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, and Uganda. The urgent need to support adolescent girls and young women living in poverty has been heightened by the global pandemic. This partnership delivers scalable economic development approaches in communities to empower these young women, helping them achieve sustainable livelihoods and engage in advocacy.
BRAC Maendeleo Tanzania is seeking qualified, dynamic, and self-motivated individuals for the position of Procurement Officer in Dar es Salaam.
Purpose
To efficiently support and ensure the success of procurement and logistics activities in the Mastercard-funded project implemented by BRAC, optimizing resource use in line with BRAC International Procurement Guidelines and Procedures, 2021.
Main Job Responsibilities
- Conduct procurement processes for acquiring assets, goods, services, and consultancies.
- Oversee all procurement aspects, including quality control, specification compliance, monitoring deliveries, and ensuring timely delivery to end users.
- Ensure fair and transparent bidding processes, promoting effective competition, best prices, and value for money in all procurement and logistics activities.
- Establish proper recording and monthly reporting systems for all procurement activities, including inventory updates.
- Verify invoices submitted by suppliers, ensuring proper documentation and submission to the Finance Department.
- Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to the line supervisor for stakeholder dissemination.
Safeguarding Responsibilities
- Understand, practice, promote, and endorse safeguarding policies among team members.
- Implement safeguarding standards in every action and follow reporting procedures for any reportable incidents.
Required Skills/Capacity
- University degree in Procurement Management, Logistics and Supply, Operations Management, or Engineering from a reputable institution.
- Registration with an appropriate professional body.
- At least five years of continuous practice in procurement functions.
- Planning skills with the ability to work accurately and meet deadlines.
- Analytical skills to assess logistical problems and develop realistic solutions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent written and verbal communication in English.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement Management, Logistics and Supply, Operations Management, Accounting, Planning, or Engineering.
