Denmark DDSA Visit Grant Scholarships 2024

DDSA invites students and researchers from all parts of the world to come visit a data science research environment in Denmark. The purpose of the DDSA Visit Grant is to attract students and early career researchers interested in forming a future DDSA fellowship application in collaboration with a potential supervisor from a Danish university or a Danish research institution.

What is a DDSA Visit Grant?

As a component of the DDSA Fellowship Programme, the Danish Data Science Academy offers financial support to national and international students pursuing bachelor’s and master’s degrees, PhD candidates, and postdoctoral researchers to spend time with new research groups of interest in Denmark.

The aim of the grant is to provide students and young researchers the chance to lay the groundwork for a future DDSA PhD or Postdoc fellowship application in collaboration with a prospective supervisor from a Danish university or research institution.

What does the grant cover?

The grant offers up to DKK 15,000 to help cover expenses for travel, accommodation, and related costs. The grant does not include salary, daily allowances, food expenses, or local transportation.

Generally, DDSA advocates for the use of public transport (and encourages the use of trains/buses where possible). The use of a private vehicle is only allowed if it is more efficient in terms of cost and time and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Who can apply?

Applications are open to Danish and international students in bachelor’s or master’s degree programs, PhD students, and postdoctoral researchers. You must be enrolled or employed at a university at the time of the planned visit, or your visit must occur within one year of completing your enrollment or employment at the university.

When can you apply?

Applications can be submitted year-round and will be processed within 6 weeks. Note that your application must be submitted before the planned activity begins. Applicants can receive one grant per year. Supervisors can receive up to 3 visit applicants per calendar year.

Eligibility

Applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • The applicant’s motivation, scientific purpose, and intended outcome of the visit to Denmark
  • The relevance of the applicant’s scientific profile to the scope of the DDSA Fellowships
  • A letter of support from the host institution/host supervisor
