Tanzania’s government is being assisted in enacting public finance reforms by the EU, Germany, and Switzerland under the Good Financial Governance (GFG) initiative. The project’s four main goals are to increase budget control, improve fiscal policy and transparency, assist public finance reform in Zanzibar, and enhance administrative capacity for revenue collection.

Position: Fiscal Policy Advisor

Duty Station: Dar es Salaam
Contract Type: Fixed Term

As a Fiscal Policy Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Ministry of Finance (MoF) under the GFG project’s Revenue Mobilization component. Your primary responsibilities will include strategic planning, providing technical advice, and coordinating activities related to fiscal policy and transparency.

Responsibilities

Implement activities in line with operational plans agreed with the Ministry of Finance (MoF). Provide technical advice on tax policy and fiscal reforms aligned with international standards. Prepare terms of reference for short-term assignments and ensure partners’ needs are reflected.

Accompany and supervise short-term expert assignments to ensure quality and integration of results. Contribute to monitoring and evaluation (M&E), communication, and reporting of project results.

Qualifications

Advanced Degree: Public administration, finance, economics, or a similar discipline. Professional Experience: A wealth of knowledge in public finance management, tax policy, and fiscal policy. a track record of effectively advising on strategy and supporting budgetary adjustments.

strong familiarity with international fiscal norms and procedures. outstanding research and analytical abilities. the capacity to cooperate with foreign partners and governmental organizations. strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
