Good Neighbors is an international humanitarian development NGO, founded in Korea in 1991, with the mission to create a world without hunger, where people live together in harmony. Good Neighbors officially established its presence in Tanzania in 2005, with a commitment to safeguarding children’s rights and fostering sustainable community development through empowerment, leadership, and ownership.

Location: Songwe, Tanzania
Contract Duration: 4 months (Contract extension is subject to funding availability, performance, and/or mutual agreement)
Reports to: Agriculture and Microfinance Coordinator

Under the overall authority of the Country Director (CD) of Good Neighbors Tanzania (GNTZ), the Income Generation (IG) Officer will assist and consult on trade facilitation among IG members of Good Neighbors Partnership Countries in East and Southern Africa. The role will also support general IG activities of GNTZ, with a primary focus on improving food security in the region, enhancing economic benefits for cooperatives, and supporting increased production, trade, and climate forecasting.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Facilitate trade between Tanzania and Southern Africa countries. Collect agricultural data from the field and grain market pricing. Search for suppliers and forwarders of maize and other grains in Tanzania. Identify importers of maize and grains in other countries.

Monitor the entire trade process, from orders to acquisition of grains. Provide expert advice and assistance on international trading procedures. Collaborate with stakeholders, including government officials, traders, forwarders, and GN entities.

Plan and execute business trips to facilitate regional trade between Tanzania and neighboring countries. Perform any other duties related to IG activities as assigned.

Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or above in Economics, Trade, Management, or related fields.
  • Experience: At least 2 years in the trading field (e.g., trade practitioner, forwarder, etc.).
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in reviewing trade documents and using Microsoft Office packages.
  • Knowledge of trade and supply chains in Tanzania’s grain markets.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent time and task management, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
