The internship at UNIDO is full-time, UNPAID, and lasts for three to six months. While working in the department or office they are assigned to, interns are overseen by a member of the staff. All internship-related expenditures, including as visa fees, travel to and from the duty station, insurance, lodging, and living expenses, must be paid for by the interns.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Intern will perform the following duties while working directly under the direction of an officer chosen by the Director, Chief, or UNIDO (Country) Representative of the [add the name of the recruiting office
- exposed to the normal essential responsibilities of the Country Office and, as a result, will get the chance to watch daily operations and participate in on-the-job training in certain tasks assigned by the supervisor.
- Participated in a particular independent project as outlined below:
- Assist the Country Office in identifying and developing projects on-demand, mapping resources and partnerships, and reporting in order to support the self-starting Programme for Country Partnership (PCP) Kenya and its technical cooperation (TC) activities.
- Encourage UNIDO to join the technical working groups of the SDG Partnership Platform.
- Assist in gathering and compiling data and information for UNSDCF reports and UNIDO periodic reports.
- Prepare briefings for the office and take part in UN technical working groups, conferences, seminars, meetings, and other stakeholder gatherings.
REQUIREMENTS
- Age: On the first day of the internship, at least 20 years old.
- Education: Enrolled in an undergraduate program; started an internship within a year after graduating from college; or finished college and received funding as a part of a development or academic initiative.
- Area of expertise: economics, business administration, ICT, environment, or a topic associated with UNIDO’s mission and service areas.
- Languages: Proficiency in both spoken and written English is necessary. It is advantageous to know one of the other official UN languages, which are Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish.
- Additional competencies: Expertise in utilizing common software programs. Prior project management experience is advantageous.
