USAID/Tanzania awarded IBI a four-year contract for the Tanzania Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Adaptation (USAID T-MELA) Activity. The contract focuses on strategy- and activity-level performance monitoring, evaluation, and learning. It includes data gathering, verification, visualization, quality assessments, impact evaluations, organizational learning, and collaboration among USAID’s implementing partners and DO teams.

USAID T-MELA is looking for two MEL interns. The MEL Interns will assist with

  • The monitoring team with data quality assessments (DQAs) and MEL concerns,
  • Data quality assessments (DQA) and other associated logistics
  • Closely collaborating with T-MELA’s teams and keeping an eye on activities.

Requirements

  • The best applicants have a background in monitoring (with an emphasis on data quality evaluations), evaluation, and learning.
  • They are also meticulous and have a strong desire to learn.
  • Analytical, qualitative, and quantitative, communication, data collecting, multitasking, attention to detail, research, and report writing abilities are required for a perfect applicant.
  • Only citizens of Tanzania are eligible for this post.

Responsibilities

  • Aid in the planning and execution of field DQA visits by providing assistance to the T-MELA DQA team.Assist with taking notes during the DQA field trips while collaborating closely with the DQA team.
  • Assist the DQA team in carrying out (field and head office) DQAs, which include system assessments, data verifications, introductions, and the completion of DQA checklists for designated indicators, among other tasks.
  • assembling summaries, briefings, results, and lessons from each day’s DQA visits, or as the supervisor designates.
  • As directed by the supervisor, create daily field reports and milestones detailing the tasks performed, finished, and ongoing.
  • Complete any additional tasks that the supervisor(s) assigns you.

Minimum Qualification

  • Bachelor’s program in a relevant field such as Social Research, Project Management, Public Administration, Sociology, or related fields.
  • Candidates with a master’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation are preferred.
  • Experience with GOT, CSO, USAID, United Nations, or other bilateral and or multilateral preferred.

ADDITIONAL/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The fundamentals of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Teams, must be understood by candidates. It’s advantageous if they are conversant with project management software and data tools. They must be multitasking and have good English and Swahili communication skills. Proficiency in basic research and problem-solving techniques is also essential.
