An autonomous research organization called REPOA generates and applies information to promote socioeconomic change for inclusive development. Ranking among the best Think Tanks in Sub-Saharan Africa and one of Tanzania’s top research organizations, REPOA conducts excellent research, offers training, encourages knowledge exchange, and supports the application of evidence from research to the formulation of policy.
REPOA is currently implementing its five-year research program, organized into three interrelated strategic research areas:
- Productive Sectors and Inclusive Development
- Gender and Human Development
- Governance, Accountability, and Citizen Engagement/Participation (GAP)
In addition, REPOA’s strategic plan is supported by two cross-cutting themes: Environment and Climate Change, and Technology and Innovation.
Capacity Building at REPOA
REPOA provides mentorship, writing skills training, and research methodology training as part of its capacity-building initiatives. The group conducts research on chosen issues by partnering with junior and senior scholars. Having interns work at REPOA’s headquarters in Dar es Salaam or its branch in Dodoma is one of the organization’s primary strategies for capacity building.
Applications are being accepted for the Research Intern job at REPOA. The Research Intern will work with a diverse team to achieve REPOA’s strategic plan, supporting policy research, training, and administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
The Research Intern will:
- Provide technical inputs and support to researchers.
- Assist in developing concept notes, research proposals, and training proposals related to the strategic plan.
- Support the development of research instruments, including translation, proofreading, and data entry protocols.
- Assist in training fieldwork enumerators on data collection methodologies.
- Support monitoring and evaluation of field operations.
- Assist in data analysis and the writing of research reports and policy briefs.
- Facilitate logistics for training and dissemination events, including liaising with participants and third-party service vendors, and providing administrative support.
- Manage clerical tasks such as receiving visitors, handling correspondence, and managing the library at the Dodoma sub-office.
- Assist with other tasks related to the implementation of REPOA’s strategic plan.
Qualifications
- A recent Master’s graduate in any Social Sciences discipline (e.g., economics, development studies, sociology).
- Experience in research and data analysis is an added advantage.
