This November, MDH, in partnership with the Dar es Salaam Regional Councils and Referral Hospitals, is inviting qualified individuals to apply for 332 volunteer positions to support health initiatives in various locations across Dar es Salaam.
Volunteer Positions Available
1. Expert Client in Outpatient Department (OPD)
Regions:
- Dar es Salaam City: 44 positions
- Temeke MC: 46 positions
- Kinondoni MC: 30 positions
- Kigamboni MC: 22 positions
- Ubungo MC: 24 positions
Supervisor: Site Supervisor
This role involves offering health education on HIV testing, screening for testing eligibility, and linking clients to HIV testing services. The Expert Client will work closely with healthcare providers to ensure high standards in testing and counseling.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide counseling and health education on HIV following Ministry of Health guidelines.
- Promote provider-initiated HIV testing and counseling services (oPITC).
- Facilitate screening and ensure that 95% of clients and companions unaware of their HIV status are screened.
- Link clients with positive HIV results to proper care and follow-up services.
Qualifications:
- Primary education completed, with literacy skills.
- Openly living with HIV and following antiretroviral treatment.
- Age limit: 45 years.
- Residency in the ward/village of the site location.
- Proficient in Kiswahili, with strong confidentiality skills.
2. Community-Level Peer Educator
Regions:
- Dar es Salaam City: 45 positions
- Kinondoni MC: 41 positions
- Ubungo MC: 31 positions
- Temeke MC: 39 positions
- Kigamboni MC: 10 positions
Supervisor: Site Supervisor
Community-Level Peer Educators will work in local communities to educate vulnerable groups on HIV testing and preventive measures, assist in medication adherence, and improve referral services within health facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and educate community groups on HIV testing and prevention.
- Provide adherence support for clients on treatment, including reminders for clinic visits.
- Guide new clients on health facility services, enhancing access and referral efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Primary education completed.
- Minimum of one-year experience as a community peer educator in HIV-related work.
- Age limit: 35 years.
- Residency in the ward/village of the application location.
- Proficient in Kiswahili and able to maintain confidentiality.
