The Secretary of the Public Service Employment Secretariat, on behalf of the Ministry of Defense and the National Service, invites applications from qualified and capable Tanzanians to fill fourteen (14) positions as specified in this announcement.
MINISTRY OF DEFENSE AND NATIONAL SERVICE
The Ministry of Defense and the National Service was officially established in 1995, and prior to that, between 1972 and 1989, the responsibilities of this Ministry were carried out by the Office of the Vice President. Between 1989 and 1995, the Ministry’s responsibilities were under the Office of the President. Additionally, before the Union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar, the Ministry was known as the Ministry of Defense and Foreign Affairs. The Ministry has a major responsibility to protect the Sovereignty of the United Republic of Tanzania and the National Interests against internal and external enemies.
ASSISTANT MASTER CRAFTSMAN – TAILORING – 14 POSITIONS
- Sewing tags, altering, and attaching them to clothing.
- Removing threads from clothing using scissors or a specific tool.
- Seam opening and hand and machine sewing.
- Consulting with clients on the type of clothing and relevant fabrics.
- Developing, duplicating, or altering clothing style and design.
- Sewing, adjusting measured clothes based on customer measurements, manufacturers, and sewing style.
- Ensuring the client’s clothing fits well and accepting changes to verify or leave, matching the suit seam to fit well.
- Ensuring the relevant clothing fabrics have a balance depending on the relevant changes.
- Making changes to clothing styles such as sewing trouser cuffs, reducing thighs, and removing linings.
- Measuring sleeve, leg, pant parts, and marking or changing the cuff.
- Laying out clothing patterns and cutting along the line using scissors.
- Pressing clothes using a hand iron or machine.
- Performing other duties assigned by their supervisor according to their profession.

APPLICANT QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have completed Form Four (IV) and successfully completed a one-year tailoring course from Government-recognized Technical Colleges.
- Must have completed Form Four (IV) with a certificate of trial in Trade Test II from Government-recognized Technical Colleges.
- Advanced Diploma/Diploma/Certificates.
- Form IV and VI examination certificates
- Computer Certificate
- Certificates of passing Trade Test II examinations
SALARY LEVEL – Based on Government Salary Scale TGS A
GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- All applicants must be Tanzanian citizens and not exceed 45 years of age, except for those currently employed.
- All applicants must attach a birth certificate.
- Applicants who are already public servants and have acquired qualifications to enter different professions than they currently hold, must pass their job application letters to their employers and the employers must be satisfied accordingly.
- Applicants must attach comprehensive personal details (Detailed CV) with reliable addresses and phone numbers along with the names of three reliable referees.
- All applications must be accompanied by academic certificates, details, copies of certificates certified by a Lawyer/Attorney which are Form Four and Form Six certificates for those who have reached that level, and certificates of completion of various training courses based on the relevant job qualifications.
- “Testimonials”, “Provisional Results”, “Statement of Results”, Form IV and Form VI RESULTS SLIPS will NOT BE ACCEPTED.
- Applicants who have studied outside Tanzania must ensure that their certificates are verified and approved by the relevant Authorities (TCU, NECTA, and NACTE).
- Applicants who have retired from Public Service are not allowed to apply unless they have permission from the Chief Secretary.
- Applicants who are currently employed in entry positions in the Public Service are not allowed to apply and must follow the instructions in Circular No. CAC. 45/257/01/D/140 dated November 30, 2010.
