MUHAS Undergraduate Entry Requirements
In order to pursue a variety of undergraduate degree and non-degree programs at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, candidates must meet both the general minimum entrance requirements and the additional entrance requirements unique to each academic program. In addition to fulfilling the standards of the accepting university, whose decision is final, candidates applying for programs under the IUCEA Students’ Exchange Program must also complete the entry requirements for programs equivalent to those offered at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences.
Admission Requirements for Undergraduate Degree Programmes
If an applicant meets any of the following requirements, they will be taken into consideration for admission to the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences’ first-degree program:
(a) Prior to taking the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (A.C.S.E.E.) or its equivalent, candidates must have passed the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (C.S.E.E.) or its equivalent, which requires passes in FIVE recognized topics, three of which must be at the Credit level; and
(b) The candidate must obtain two principal level passes in appropriate subjects from the A.C.S.E.E. or equivalent, with a total of points from three subjects that do not fall below five (for programs based in the arts) or two (for programs based in science). The conversion scale uses the following grades to points: A = 5, B = 4, C = 3, D = 2, E = 1, S = 0.5, and F = 0 points.

(c) A suitable comparable diploma from a college that has been completely accepted by the MUHAS Senate and fully registered by NACTE, with a minimum grade of B or a credit level. An Upper Second class or B+ average is required for diplomas that are further divided into Upper and Lower classes.
Note: Before being considered for admission to the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, applicants from nations with 8-4-4 educational systems must finish at least one year of study in a university in their home nations.
(d) The Mature Age Entry Examination (MAEE) with a minimum score of 100, which consists of at least 50 in Paper I and 50 in Paper II. The purpose of MAEE is to provide excellent Tanzanian applicants with the chance to pursue a first degree at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, even if they do not meet the university’s prerequisites for direct or equivalent enrollment.
One must be 25 years of age or older on August 1st of the year they are applying for admission in order to be eligible for the MAEE. Furthermore, a candidate must have finished Form VI at least five years prior to September 1st of the year they are seeking admission, or they must have earned at least three credits in acceptable courses on the Certificate of Secondary Education Examination.
