About the National Sugar Institute (NSI)
Founded in 1975, the National Sugar Institute was initially a vocational training hub dedicated to cultivating skilled artisans and technicians for Tanzania’s sugar industry. Officially inaugurated on August 8, 1981, by the late first President of Tanzania, Mwalimu Julius K. Nyerere, NSI became a department of the Sugar Development Corporation (SUDECO) on December 30, 1980. 1. Artisan II (Mechanical)
- Number of Posts: 1
- Salary Scale: PGSS 2
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform maintenance and repair of motor vehicles, motorcycles, and heavy machinery. Complete job cards for all maintenance and repair tasks. Conduct mechanical inspections using official checklists. Maintain cleanliness of motor vehicles and equipment. Ensure all vehicles are roadworthy. Execute additional tasks as assigned by the Mechanical Technician.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Holder of Form IV or Form VI certificate with Trade Test Grade II/Level II in Mechanical or equivalent from recognized institutions.
2. Assistant Tutor/Instructor II Positions
NSI is seeking talented educators for various disciplines. Each position offers a competitive salary scale of PTSS 7.
a. Food Science and Technology (1 Post)
- Qualifications: Ordinary Diploma in Food Science and Technology or equivalent.
b. Horticulture (1 Post)
- Qualifications: Ordinary Diploma in Horticulture or equivalent.
c. Agriculture Engineering (1 Post)
- Qualifications: Ordinary Diploma in Agriculture Engineering and Mechanization or equivalent.
d. General Agriculture (1 Post)
- Qualifications: Ordinary Diploma in General Agriculture or equivalent.
Duties and Responsibilities for All Assistant Tutor/Instructor II Roles:
Teach up to NTA Level 4 and assist in higher levels. Prepare practical exercise learning resources. Support consultancy and community service initiatives. Conduct practical exercises under supervision. Prepare materials for practical sessions. Assist in consultancy and service assignments. Perform additional duties as assigned.
3. Examination Officer II
- Number of Posts: 1
- Salary Scale: PGSS 6
Duties and Responsibilities:
Distribute and manage examination scripts. Supply necessary examination materials. Coordinate invigilator allocation and examination schedules. Liaise with the Head of Examination Unit on timetables and student accommodations. Implement examination and certification procedures.
Compile and manage student examination information. Oversee certification systems and certificate issuance. Address attendance and absence issues at the campus level. Execute additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor of Education in Science with ICT or equivalent from recognized institutions.
4. Technician II Electrical
- Number of Posts: 1
- Salary Scale: PGSS 5
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on electrical systems and plumbing. Plan tool and equipment requirements for power supply. Advise on the economic and safe use of power and water.Liaise with utility companies regarding bills and usage.
Ensure additional facilities meet standards and safety regulations. Install water and power supply facilities as needed. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma (NTA Level 6) or Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in Electrical Installation or equivalent from a recognized institution.
5. Tutor/Instructor II Positions
NSI is also recruiting highly qualified tutors/instructors for specialized fields, each with a salary scale of PTSS 10.
a. Agri-Business (2 Posts)
- Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in Agri-business or equivalent.
b. Mechanical Engineering (1 Post)
- Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
