The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) is a Government Institution under the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology. NECTA was established by the Parliamentary Act No. 21 of 1973 (Re-2019) to administer examinations and certification.

Transfer Opportunities for Public Servants
Public Servants wishing to transfer their services to NECTA are invited to apply for the following posts:

A. Posts and Qualifications

1. Examinations Officer II – Chemistry Subject (1 Post)

Qualification:

  • Bachelor Degree in Education, Bachelor of Science with Education, or equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution, majoring in Chemistry.
  • OR Bachelor Degree in Chemistry plus Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise marking of candidates’ examination scripts.
  • Compile lists of examiners for various examinations.
  • Supervise setting of test items and marking scheme.
  • Supervise moderators of test items and marking scheme.
  • Typesetting and proofreading of examination papers and marking scheme.
  • Carry out post-facto analysis of subjects examined by NECTA to provide feedback to schools and other stakeholders.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

2. Examinations Officer II – Physics Subject (1 Post)

Qualification:

  • Bachelor Degree in Education, Bachelor of Science with Education, or equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution, majoring in Physics.
  • OR Bachelor Degree in Physics plus Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).

Duties and Responsibilities:

3. Examinations Officer II – Kiswahili Subject (1 Post)

Qualification:

  • Bachelor Degree in Education, Bachelor of Arts with Education, or equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution, majoring in Kiswahili.
  • OR Bachelor Degree in Kiswahili plus Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE).

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise marking of candidates’ examination scripts.
  • Compile lists of examiners for various examinations.
  • Supervise setting of test items and marking scheme.
  • Supervise moderators of test items and marking scheme.
  • Typesetting and proofreading of examination papers and marking scheme.
  • Carry out post-facto analysis of subjects examined by NECTA to provide feedback to schools and other stakeholders.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

4. Internal Auditor II (1 Post)

Qualification:

  • Bachelor Degree in Auditing, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration/Commerce majoring in Accountancy or Finance, or equivalent qualifications from recognized institutions.
  • CPA (T), ACCA, ACA, or equivalent professional qualification recognized by NBAA.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Execute audit programs.
  • Audit invoices and local purchases.
  • Audit journal entries.
  • Audit pay entries and transactions.
  • Audit stock control records.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

5. Principal Assistant Printer (1 Post)

Qualification:

  • FTC or Diploma (NTA 6) in Graphic Art and Printing, Printing Technology, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.
  • At least thirteen (13) years of working experience in a related field.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and implementing various binding and printing tasks.
  • Prepare an inventory of printing/binding requirements, materials, and chemicals.
  • Maintain a register for incoming and outgoing jobs.
  • Operate various machines in the finishing sections on folding, cutting, stitching, and binding of examination, examination stationery, and office stationery.
  • Advise on all matters pertaining to binding/printing.
  • Prepare preventive maintenance Gantt chart and ensure adherence.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

6. Printing Assistant II (7 Posts)

Qualification:

  • Certificate (NTA 5)/Trade Test II/Level II in Graphic Art and Printing, Printing Technology, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate small offset printing machines.
  • Operate paper cutting machines.
  • Operate machines (e.g., SORD, SORS, Goss-web, SPEED MASTER, guillotine, and book pressing).
  • Operate hydraulic power for lifting reams, etc.
  • Hand bind.
  • Collate, cut, and trim.
  • Assemble all printed material into finished printed products.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

7. Office Management Secretary II (2 Posts)

Qualification:

  • Diploma (NTA 6) in Secretarial Studies with a typing speed of 80 words per minute and computer knowledge in MS-Word, MS-Excel, Internet, Email, MS-Publisher from a recognized institution.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Type letters and other documents.
  • Receive visitors, ascertain the nature of their business, and relay information to the relevant executive.
  • Maintain a diary of appointments, meetings, and occasions for executives, and inform/remind them accordingly.
  • Handle incoming mails for the personal attention of the relevant executive and ensure effective circulation and management of information and correspondences.
  • Prepare and facilitate departmental and other meetings, and process records of the proceedings.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the office(s).
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

8. Driver II (1 Post)

Qualification:

  • CSEE and Certificate in Basic Driving Course from VETA/NIT or equivalent qualifications from recognized Institution.
  • At least one year of driving experience without causing an accident.
  • Clean Class E or C Driving License.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive NECTA vehicles skillfully.
  • Maintain and keep up-to-date log-books.
  • Adhere to maintenance schedules.
  • Keep motor vehicles in good running condition and report faults and defects to the Transport Officer.
  • Ensure that valid documents are obtained prior to commencing any journey.
  • Ensure the safety and cleanliness of vehicles at all times.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

B. Other Attributes

In addition to the specified qualifications, all applicants are expected to possess the following attributes:

  • High degree of integrity.
  • Capacity to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Dynamic and results-oriented.

C. General Conditions

  • Applicants must channel their application letters through their employers.
  • Applicants must be Citizens of Tanzania.
  • Applicants must be Public Servants.
  • Applicants must attach copies of certified secondary school certificates, academic certificates, transcripts, and birth certificates. Presentation of forged certificates and other information will necessitate legal action.
