Selcom Microfinance Bank Tanzania is seeking a confident and self-motivated individual to fill the position of Chief Accountant. This role presents an excellent career opportunity for experienced professionals, offering a competitive remuneration package in line with the Bank’s salary structure.

Responsibilities:

Track the Bank’s budgetary controls report and communicate it to Heads of Departments monthly. Lead financial analysis for interrogations (e.g., revenue leakage projects). Review all cost processes and suggest best cost control practices to ensure a well-maintained cost-to-income ratio.

Oversee the entire tendering process, from issuance of tender documents to evaluation of bidders. Timely plan and remit monthly, quarterly, and annual statutory contributions and taxes. Participate proactively in the annual physical verification of the Bank’s assets, year-end cash count, and stationery stock count.

Oversee annual audits, including internal, external, and tax audits, and track findings and observations. Prepare reports on the financial situation and development of the Bank, tax-related issues, payment offices, and fixed assets, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounts, finance, or a related field.
  • CPA or ACCA certification, registered with NBAA.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in a similar position.
  • Strong knowledge and application of International Financial Reporting Standards and Bank of Tanzania Regulations.
  • Excellent understanding and application of Tanzanian tax laws.
  • Excellent financial analysis knowledge.
  • Fluency in English and Kiswahili.
