We are seeking a skilled and experienced Audit and Risk Manager to join our team. The Audit and Risk Manager will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the internal audit function and managing the organization’s risk management processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in auditing, risk management, and compliance, with the ability to provide strategic guidance and recommendations to senior management.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operational responsibility for matters related to the Company’s internal controls, risk management processes/procedures, and compliance matters, including:
  • Reviewing and evaluating the Company’s risk management processes and procedures and identifying areas of improvement.
  • Collaborating and coordinating with department heads to establish the enterprise risk management framework, policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Providing recommendations and advising on desirable changes in policies, procedures, and systems to manage and mitigate identified risks to the Company.
  • Initiating and implementing effective internal control systems.
  • Developing and implementing annual audit plans based on a thorough risk assessment of the organization.
  • Conducting follow-ups on all audit assignments given to external auditors.
  • Working with management to resolve issues identified through audit findings.
  • Building and advising the team to ensure legal compliance and achievement of organizational goals.
  • Researching and identifying internal and external risk factors (economic, markets, operational, regulatory, etc.) and developing strategies to prevent potentially harmful activities or practices.
  • Routinely evaluating the effectiveness of risk policies and procedures and collaborating with internal stakeholders to monitor changes in the business environment.
  • Monitoring compliance with the Company’s internal policies and procedures.
  • Reviewing and evaluating the Company’s compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Preparing audit, risk, and compliance reports for Management and the Board Audit and Risk Committee to summarize the Company’s compliance status.
  • Assisting in preparing the required periodic compliance reports to the regulator (TIRA) and other relevant authorities, including but not limited to the Finance Intelligence Unit (FIU).
  • Staying abreast of industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and emerging risks to ensure the Company remains compliant and well-prepared.
  • Conducting or organizing training for staff regarding risk management and compliance matters.
  • Performing any other relevant duties as delegated by any upline Manager.

Education Including Specialized Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field. A master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CIA, CISA) is preferred.
  • Knowledge/training on compliance requirements by insurance companies to regulations by the regulatory bodies TIRA, TRA is an added advantage.

Work Experience:

  • Proven experience in internal auditing, risk management, or a related field, with at least 5 years of experience in a managerial role, preferably in an insurance or audit firm.
  • Strong knowledge of auditing standards, risk assessment techniques, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
