The Executive Director of Sumbawanga District Council, in accordance with the employment permit No. FA.97/228/01/09 dated 25/06/2024 from the Secretary-General, Office of the President, Public Service Management and Good Governance, invites job applications from qualified Tanzanians to fill 19 job vacancies as follows:

1.Village Executive Officer Grade III – 10 Positions

Responsibilities:

The main accounting officer and executive head of the Village Government; Supervise the protection and safety of citizens and their property, act as a peacekeeper, and oversee good governance in the Village; Coordinate and supervise the planning of village development projects; Secretary of all meetings and committees of the Village Council; Interpret and enforce policies, laws, and regulations;

Prepare work implementation reports in the area and encourage residents to prepare and implement strategies to eradicate hunger, poverty, and increase production; Leader of heads of technical departments in the Village; Supervise, collect, and store all records and documents of the Village; Chairperson of the meeting of technical experts in the Village; Receive, listen to, and resolve citizens’ complaints and disputes; Oversee the drafting of village by-laws; and Will be accountable to the Ward Executive Officer.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants should have a Form IV/VI certificate and a Certificate (NTA Level 5) in one of the following fields: Administration, Law, Community Development, Financial Management, Social Sciences, Education, or any other related field from a recognized institution.

Salary Scale: TGS B – 1

2.Driver Grade II – 5 Positions

Responsibilities:

Inspect the vehicle before and after a trip to identify its safety condition; Transport staff to various locations for official duties; Perform minor repairs on the vehicle; Maintain and record travel logs for all trips; Collect and deliver or transport various documents and items; Clean the vehicle; Perform any other duties assigned by the employer.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants should have a Form IV/VI certificate, a Class C or E driving license, have attended a Basic Driving Course from VETA or any other recognized institution, and have at least one year of driving experience without causing an accident.

Salary Scale: TGS B – 1

3. Community Development Assistant Grade II – 2 Positions

Responsibilities:

Assist in planning and designing development plans and projects in the area; Assist in facilitating and providing training on development issues in the area; Participate in the implementation of development activities; Assist in providing education on self-employment in the area; Prepare and provide monthly community development reports to the Village leadership and Work Supervisor; Assist in forming community and development groups; Identify and support poor households to improve their economy through available opportunities and resources; Perform any other duties assigned by the employer.

Qualifications

  • Applicants should have a Form IV/VI certificate and a Diploma in one of the following fields: Community Development, Sociology, Development Studies, Project Planning and Management, Gender and Development, Rural Development, or any other related field from a recognized institution.
  • Salary Scale: TGS B – 1

4. Records Management Assistant Grade II – 2 Positions

Responsibilities:

i. Record incoming correspondence in the register;
ii. Record outgoing correspondence in the register;
iii. Distribute files to action officers;
iv. Receive returned files from action officers;
v. Retrieve records/files/documents needed by action officers;
vi. Return files to the filing cabinets or other storage locations;
vii. Monitor the circulation of files within the institution (file tracking);
viii. Perform any other duties assigned by the employer.

Qualifications: Applicants should have a Form IV/VI certificate and a Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Records Management or any related field from a recognized institution and possess computer skills.

Salary Scale: TGS C – 1

General Conditions for Applicants:

All applicants must be Tanzanian citizens aged between 18 and 45 years, except for those already employed in the Government; Disabled applicants are encouraged to apply and must specify their disability in the employment application system for notification to the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat; Applicants should attach a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) with a functional address, reliable phone numbers, and email addresses, along with the names of three reputable referees;

Applicants who are already public servants and have acquired qualifications for entry into different cadres than their current ones should forward their job applications through their employers, and their employers should be satisfied with their requests; All applications should include verified educational and professional certificates by a lawyer/advocate, including Form IV and VI certificates for those who have reached that level,

And certificates of completion of various training in line with the relevant job qualifications (Postgraduate/Degree/AdvancedDiploma/Diploma/Certificates, Form IV and VI Certificates, Computer Certificate, and Professional Certificates from respective Boards); Testimonials, provisional results, statement of results, and Form IV and VI results slips will not be accepted; Applicants who studied abroad should ensure their certificates have been verified and certified by the relevant authorities (TCU, NECTA, and NACTE);

Applicants who have been retired from the public service are not allowed to apply unless they have approval from the Chief Secretary;Applicants who are already employed in entry-level positions in the public service should not apply and must adhere to the instructions in Circular No. CAC.45/257/01/D/140 dated 30 November 2010 Submission of false information and qualifications will result in legal action against the involved parties; The deadline for submitting job applications is 24th August 2024;
