On behalf of the Tanzania Forestry Research Institute (TAFORI), the Public Service Recruitment Secretariat invites dynamic and suitably qualified Tanzanians to fill thirty-two (32) vacant posts as mentioned below.

1.0 TANZANIA FORESTRY RESEARCH INSTITUTE (TAFORI)

The Tanzania Forestry Research Institute (TAFORI) was established by Act No. 5 of 1980, with amendments in 2023. TAFORI is mandated to conduct and coordinate research on all fundamental aspects of beekeeping, forest production, and utilization, focusing on the conservation of forests and allied resources. The institute provides scientific and technical services on various aspects of forestry and beekeeping.

1.1 RESEARCH OFFICER GRADE II (FORESTRY) – 8 POSTS

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform field data collection, data entry, analysis, and gather relevant literature.
  • Undertake specific research activities with minimal supervision.
  • Prepare and submit manuscript drafts for supervisor review.
  • Train and supervise technicians.
  • Prepare research progress reports.
  • Assist in the planning of specific research projects.
  • Assist in preparing fundable research proposals and consultancy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualification and Experience: Holder of a Master’s Degree and Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Agroforestry, Forest Products and Technology, Environmental and Natural Resource Economics, or Forest Resource Assessment and Management from a recognized institution, with a minimum of Upper Second Class at the Undergraduate Level.

Salary Scale: PRSS 2

1.2 RESEARCH OFFICER GRADE II (FOREST ENGINEERING) – 1 POST

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Similar responsibilities as listed under the Research Officer Grade II (Forestry).

Qualification and Experience: Holder of a Master’s Degree and Bachelor’s Degree in Forest Engineering from a recognized institution, with a minimum of Upper Second Class at the Undergraduate Level.

Salary Scale: PRSS 2

1.3 RESEARCH OFFICER GRADE II (BOTANY) – 1 POST

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Similar responsibilities as listed under the Research Officer Grade II (Forestry).

Qualification and Experience: Holder of a Master’s Degree and Bachelor’s Degree in Botany from a recognized institution, with a minimum of Upper Second Class at the Undergraduate Level.

Salary Scale: PRSS 2

1.4 RESEARCH OFFICER GRADE II (BEEKEEPING) – 4 POSTS

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Similar responsibilities as listed under the Research Officer Grade II (Forestry).

Qualification and Experience: Holder of a Master’s Degree and Bachelor’s Degree in Beekeeping, Beekeeping Science and Technology, or Bee Resources from a recognized institution, with a minimum of Upper Second Class at the Undergraduate Level.

Salary Scale: PRSS 2

1.5 RESEARCH OFFICER GRADE II (MICROBIOLOGY) – 1 POST

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Similar responsibilities as listed under the Research Officer Grade II (Forestry).

Qualification and Experience: Holder of a Master’s Degree and Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology from a recognized institution, with a minimum of Upper Second Class at the Under graduate Level.

Salary Scale: PRSS 2

1.6 RESEARCH ASSISTANT (FORESTRY) – 8 POSTS

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in field data collection, data entry, analysis, and gathering relevant literature under the supervision of Senior Researchers.
  • Prepare and submit technical and draft manuscript reports for supervisor review.
  • Train and supervise other technicians.
  • Assist in preparing research progress reports and planning specific research projects.
  • Assist in preparing fundable research proposals and consultancy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Qualification and Experience: Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry, Agroforestry, Forest Products and Technology, Environmental and Natural Resource Economics, or Forest Resource Assessment and Management from a recognized institution, with a minimum of Upper Second Class at the Undergraduate Level.

Salary Scale: PRSS 1

1.7 RESEARCH ASSISTANT (BOTANY) – 2 POSTS

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Similar responsibilities as listed under the Research Assistant (Forestry).

Qualification and Experience: Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Botany from a recognized institution, with a minimum of Upper Second Class at the Undergraduate Level.

Salary Scale: PRSS 1

1.8 RESEARCH ASSISTANT (BEEKEEPING) – 6 POSTS

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Similar responsibilities as listed under the Research Assistant (Forestry).

Qualification and Experience: Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Beekeeping, Bee Resources, or Beekeeping Science and Technology from a recognized institution, with a minimum of Upper Second Class at the Undergraduate Level.

Salary Scale: PRSS 1

1.9 RESEARCH ASSISTANT (MICROBIOLOGY) – 1 POST

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Similar responsibilities as listed under the Research Assistant (Forestry).

Qualification and Experience: Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology from a recognized institution, with a minimum of Upper Second Class at the Undergraduate Level.

Salary Scale: PRSS 1
