Water Mission Vacancies
The Professionalized Services (PS) Officer, reporting to the Professionalized Services Manager (PSM) and coordinating with the Regional Manager, will support the development and execution of professionalized services in the Kigoma Region. This role focuses on ensuring sustainability and ongoing transformation in communities with safe water projects. The PS Officer will play a key role in implementing Water Mission’s sustainability strategies, particularly through the Rural Water Cooperative (RWC) and other initiatives aimed at maximizing impact.
Key responsibilities include managing the RWC, ensuring continuous operation of water systems (UPTIME), and meeting Carbon Credit reporting requirements to improve service quality and financial sustainability. Based in Kasulu, the role involves regular travel to project sites. Success will be measured by project sustainability, return on investment (ROI), and impact achievement.
The PS Officer is also responsible for fostering a culture of biblical worldview and excellence, providing accurate data, empowering staff, and aligning with Water Mission’s mission, vision, values, and standards.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a strong Christian witness and model servant leadership.
- Engage in prayer before and after team meetings and lead biblically based staff devotions.
- Assess current WASH service provision, focusing on RWC, and identify improvement opportunities.
- Implement strategies to maximize UPTIME and meet Carbon Credit reporting requirements.
- Facilitate collaboration between RWC and Water Mission staff to address challenges promptly.
- Support the operationalization of the Asset management system tailored to the country program’s needs.
- Develop innovative models of professionalized services for the country program.
- Establish and strengthen governance, policies, and regulations for effective water utility management.
- Participate in capacity-building programs and training workshops for utility management skills enhancement.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate revenue generation strategies and identify improvement areas.
- Prepare reports and presentations documenting project outcomes, lessons learned, and best practices for stakeholders.
- Build relationships with key stakeholders, including the Government of Tanzania, NGOs, and partners.
- Develop and manage key capacities, including water system operators and professionalized services-focused staff.

Requirements
Alignment with Water Mission’s Statement of Faith and commitment to its mission and values. A personal, growing relationship with Jesus Christ. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Management, Community Development, Social Work, Monitoring and Evaluation, or a related field.
At least four years of experience in the WASH sector. Proven experience supporting WASH projects in challenging environments. Strong analytical skills for interpreting market trends, financial data, and operational metrics. Excellent communication skills in English and Swahili, with strong negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
Commitment to project sustainability and innovation in the WASH sector. Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and similar applications. Ability to drive. Legal authorization to work in Tanzania.
