Position 1: Finance Intern (2 Positions)

  • Reports to: Accounting Unit Lead
  • Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

The Finance Intern’s primary role is to conduct a comprehensive verification of all fixed assets owned by WWF’s Tanzania Country Office (TCO) and to create a reliable and up-to-date fixed assets register. This includes physical verification, condition assessment, documentation, and providing recommendations to improve asset management practices.

Scope of Work:

  • Asset Identification: Identifying all physical assets owned by WWF TCO, such as machinery, vehicles, furniture, IT equipment, and buildings.
  • Asset Verification: Physically inspecting each asset to confirm its existence, condition, and location.
  • Asset Documentation: Recording essential details for each asset, including acquisition date, purchase price, depreciation rate, and location.
  • Fixed Assets Register: Compiling a comprehensive fixed assets register.
  • Recommendations: Proposing enhancements to improve asset management practices and register accuracy.

Deliverables:

  • Detailed asset inventory list
  • Fixed assets register
  • Asset valuation report (if applicable)
  • Recommendations for asset management

Timeline: The intern is expected to complete the assignment within six months from the contract start date.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • At least two years of experience in asset management or accounting
  • Expertise in asset verification and register construction
  • Proficiency in IPSAS accounting standards, depreciation methods, and relevant software (Excel, asset management tools)
  • Strong analytical skills

Position 2: IT Intern

  • Reports to: IT Officer
  • Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
  • Effective Date: January 2025

The IT Intern will support WWF TCO’s IT Officer in maintaining and enhancing the organization’s IT infrastructure, which includes both hardware and software systems. This role provides a unique opportunity to work on critical IT tasks essential for effective WWF operations, including network support and data backup management.

Objective: To assist in the smooth operation of IT systems at WWF by providing technical support and engaging in daily IT maintenance tasks.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Technical Support: Offer first-level support to staff for hardware, software, and network issues.
  • System Monitoring: Track network and server performance to ensure efficiency.
  • Hardware and Software Maintenance: Aid in the setup and configuration of computer equipment, maintaining software updates.
  • Network Support: Assist in maintaining LAN setups and internet connections.
  • Data Backup: Support daily and weekly data backup activities, ensuring data security.
  • IT Security Assistance: Help maintain updated antivirus software and monitor potential security threats.
  • Asset Management: Track IT equipment inventory and hardware assignments to staff.
  • Project Support: Assist in IT projects, including setting up new systems and network infrastructure upgrades.
