Position overview

Food for His Children is looking for a highly motivated person to fill the combined roles of Accountant and Administrative Assistant. The selected applicant will be in charge of monitoring financial transactions, keeping correct records, and providing administrative assistance to guarantee the efficient running of our firm. This position requires knowledge of the QuickBooks accounting program.

Responsibilities:

Accounting roles (60%)

  • Monitor financial performance and risk profile while ensuring that all regulatory responsibilities are satisfied.
  • Oversee the organization’s financial operations, including budgeting, reporting, and auditing.
  • Budgets and expenditures must be monitored, and contributions to budget preparation and adjustment are welcome.
  • Ensure that all financial transactions are authorized, recorded, filed with appropriate supporting paperwork, and preserved.
  • Reconcile transactions on computer and bank statements to ensure that all accounts balance.
  • Manage day-to-day financial activities, including accounts payable, receivable, and payroll processing.
  • Track invoices, money handling operations, accounting, bill payment, and bank activities.
  • Implement operating cost controls in areas such as manpower, supplies, and acquired services, and launch tactical actions to mitigate losses.
  • Coordinate with and evaluate budgets and expenditures as needed.

Administration roles (40%)

  • Provide administrative assistance to the team by organizing letters, arranging meetings, and stocking office supplies.
  • Assist with event planning, seminars, and training sessions as needed.
  • Perform standard office activities such as filing, photocopying, and data entry.
  • Responsible for all travel arrangements for the organization’s workforce, including flight bookings, ticket purchases, hotel/accommodation reservations, payment clearance, and record keeping.
  • Ensure that personnel, delegation, and visitors/consultants are properly welcomed, including pick-up and drop-off at the airport.
  • Taking needed meeting minutes.
  • Undertake general administrative responsibilities under the guidance of the US &TZ Team Head, including as dealing with items of correspondence, telephone calls & questions, and filing.
  • Keep track of all administrative paperwork, including registration, all internal and external correspondence, and updated records.

Qualifications

  • Desire to live and lead like Jesus; congruence with Food for His Children’s basic principles and beliefs.
  • Diploma in Accounting and Finance
  • Proven expertise in accounting and administration, particularly in a non-profit organization or comparable environment.
  • Expertise with QuickBooks accounting software is required.
  • Excellent organizing abilities and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to operate independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
  • Knowledge of Tanzanian accounting standards and regulations is preferred.
  • Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is necessary.
